Words Words Words

A good friend of ours was visiting last night from Boulder (Hi Michael!!) and our conversation covered a range of issues. From the wonderful satire from Saturday Night Live featuring Tina Fey as Sara Palin, to the finer intricacies of Sharepoint, his encounter of discussing orgasmic birth with other men while exercising their dogs, to the amazing reality of child brain development. On this latter topic, Asher is continuing to grow that fantastic lump of matter inside his head. I have to say the last few weeks have been pretty astounding to witness.
His vocabulary grows every day whether prompted by us or on his own. He will say almost a new word a day. Sometimes it's pretty obvious where he's picking them up, such as blanket, pillow, chuppa (his pacifier). This last one he used to pronounce as butta. Just picture the old SNL skits with Mike Meyers as a rotund east coast jew remarking on the beauty of Barbara Streisand's legs. If you're familiar, you'll know exactly how it sounds.
He has spouted out the words jacket, glasses, and backhoe just in the last few days. I'm having a hard time coming up with enough synonyms for amazing, it just surprises us every day.

There's construction going on very close to our house that has kept him transfixed when we walk or drive by. They've started some excavation in preparation for some new gigantic, oversized, too close together homes I imagine. The large machinery used for this is a favorite of the kids in the neighborhood. Yesterday Luke said he wanted to take Asher over to them and let him get a close look. I said, we should bring the camera. Now the question I pose to you is, "Do you see Asher?"
