Wow! How is it that almost a month has gone by? I think Asher is looking for it.Time really does fly when there's a toddler in your life. Luke and I were recently talking about how little time we seem to have. Of course we love it, but just once, I'd like to have time to clean the house.
The weather in Seattle has finally gotten nice. Last Friday, Asher and I met up with Layla and Gianina at Carkeek Park which is in North Seattle. As you can see, the view from the lawn and playground is amazing. It looks out over Puget Sound and the Olympics. This is a popular place with windsurfers, sailboats, picnickers, and just about everyone who likes to get outside.

Of course as I write about lovely weather, it's raining (has been all night) and it's back in the upper 50s. Go figure.
Other news of late: Asher weaned himself. That's right, no more nursing for him. He was only nursing once in the morning when he'd wake up. I'd pull him into bed with Luke and I before we got up. But one Saturday morning, I decided to take him downstairs and let Luke sleep in. Asher didn't ask to nurse and suddenly that was the end of nursing. Kind of crazy. I'm excited that we've moved past this stage of his babyhood, but also a little sad that it's over.
He's also grown two more teeth. I'm not quite sure when this happened. Typically baby teeth come in a particular order. Well, here I was waiting to see two more bottom teeth come in. While changing his diaper and furiously, verbally opposing it, I just happened to notice that he had two upper molars! No wonder the little guy has been cranky. He's been cutting teeth without any pain relief. Poor little guy. Trust me, I felt guilty. Still do. Eight teeth and counting...
There's another addition to Asher's growing circle of friends. Henry's little sister Lola Rose Walker was born last week on the 13th of May. Like her brother, she's got lots of hair with a hint of red in it. Asher and I were lucky enough to meet when she was less than 12 hours old. I think I was probably more excited. Asher was more excited to see Lola's mom Ady. He seems to have quite the crush on her. Here's the newest girl:

On Mother's Day, we went out to my favorite breakfast joint in Seattle, Wild Mountain. They've got cinnamon rolls to die for. I was so excited about my cinnamon roll, I forgot to order the Bloody Mary I had been planning to all week. Asher and Luke bought me a great necklace. I think Asher helped pick it out because he loves to play with it. Later that evening, Luke surprised me with a babysitter, dinner out, and a movie.
Asher has been growing by leaps and bounds. We knew he needed new shoes, so this week we went to Shoe Zoo, a local kids shoe store. It turns out we've been cramming a size 5 1/2 foot into size 4 shoes. So not only has Asher's mouth been hurting, but so have his feet. Again, on comes the guilt. But we've remedied the shoe situation and he's getting used to his bigger shoes by tripping over them alot.
