As you can see, Asher is feeling quite a bit better than last week. After a trip to the pediatrician, it turns out he had Roseola. This is a very common virus that kids get in spring or fall. It started with a high fever. Once the fever broke, he got a smooth rash on his belly and chest. That disappeared 2 days later and just like that, he was back to his old self. He sure was a cutie when he was sick, but I prefer my smiley baby much more. The newest thing he can do is to begin pulling himself up to a standing position. He seems to really enjoy this as long as he's got something pretty sturdy to support himself. This is usually Luke or me, but in this case it's Luke's toolbox. Now all he needs is a hammer attached to his overalls.
His crawling is getting a lot better. He's still not on both knees, but this doesn't deter him from getting into anything and everything he can. Luke installed the first of many baby gates this weekend at the top of our stairs. The only ones that seems upset by this are the cats who get confined when the gate is closed. It sure makes our lives easier and more carefree though, knowing he's not going to take a header down the stairs while we turn our eyes off of him for 2 seconds. Aah, the joys of parenting. I don't think it gets any better.
